How to choose? - Please help !

I am so lost while looking for a house, I do not know which area to choose.

Area A - has the best schools (elementary - 10, inermediate - 10, and high school-10), also one of the top 10 school districts in the state I live.

I have been contrating on looking for house in this area for about 2 months. One big problem with this area - not deversified enough, there are not many asian (maybe 1%), 95% residence are white, so are the students in the schools.

I talked to one lady (not white and not asian, either) who lived in the district and was told, the district was not very friendly to minorities. Not only from her daughter's experience, but also she told me that one asian kid told his parents that he want to be white. I was terrifid by such statement. Although this may be just some individual case. I would be very very sad if I heard this from my kids. This is a big concern for me and it made me very hesitate to buy a house in A.


Area B - house price about the same as that of A, more deversified (about 60% white, 17% asain). Higher property tax (about .5% higher). Schools are excellent but not the best (elementary -10, inermediate - 9, high - 9). It is definitely better environment for minority students.

I am so confused, do you think school ratings are as important as a more friendly environment? How would you choose if you have to buy a house?
