Everything you own should be in the trust.

Idealy, everything you own: bank account, brokerage account, house, automobile, 401K beneficiary, insurance beneficiary, etc etc should be titled to the trust. 

Think the trust as being a box.  If you put things in the box, after you die the box is automatcially picked up by your trustee and be taken care of.  If you leave things scattered outside the box, then the probate court has to come in and clean it up for you.  Opening a trust is just to get an empty box.  It's your jobs to "put your affairs in order" everyday.  Because you don't know when you will die.
