Deflation never cause spiral. If there is no inflation spiral, there wont be deflation spiral. 1929 is the inflation induces, not deflation induced. Wall Street and FED mix the concepts to get people used to inflation concept so they can benefit from inflation.

For example, buy and hold stocks: well, who said buy and hold will be good strategy now given last fifteen years of stock losing purchasing power? I bet for most people, the lost purchasing power will never be regained in their life time. Sad but true.
