One of the best known scholar had a theorem. It says that some variable will become a fixed value when some variable goes to infinity. I proved it wrong and was very excited about it. After I presented the result to my advisor, he said that let us send it to the professor and ask his opinion. Then, we did not send the paper to get it published after getting the feedback. The theorem is still there and quoted as a rule of thumb. I lost the chance to claim the 15 minutes of fame.
