In my condo's landlord insurance, my insurance agent told me that all the appliances that are not attached to the structure fall into the personal property category. Examples are:
- Kitchen refrigerator
- Range/oven (gas or electric)
- Microwave w/ hood
- Dishwasher
- Water heater tank
- Laundry washer
- Laundry dryer
Only the electric range/oven is an easy plug to the wall. All the rest have bunch of other connections in the forms of hoses, vents, pipes, etc.
In the past, I thought they were attached to the structure, and I looked at them as part of "Building Property" not under "Personal Property". Today I asked my agent why my "Personal Property" is not zero, then I found out this misunderstanding.
So what's left in the "Building Property" category for my condo? I think they are floors (carpet/hardwood/tile), inside walls/doors, lighting fixtures, cabinet, countertops, sinks, bathtub, toilet, windows. Am I right?
