Growth stock are for price increase, such as TSLA, AMZN etc. because these companies have growing business.

Some stocks are for income generation, such as AT&T.  These companies have a stable busniess that generating good income, not because their business is growing.  This is why their stock price is usually flat but their dividend payment is constant. 

Usually dividend investing are for people need income, such as retirement.
