Company's valuation also changes. PE is misleading at the best. Nobody could imagine Lehman could bankrupt, why is it impossible for Citibank, GE, or BAC?

When people say that they do not time the market, they are either looking for excuses for their mistakes or merely ignorant. Because investing in stock is all about buy low and sell high, which by definition is timing.
