During 2008 and after, the rental market actually was better than 2005 and 2006. The reason being is that the home owners can not hold onto their homes during 2008 crisis. More people went to the rental market for housing. When real estate market is good, rental market is always softer. During 1988/1989 and 2008/2009 real estate market downturn, the rental market was good.
Just the opposite in 2008
