The good thing about 401(k) is that most of them don't have any stocks in there so that participants can not 'Chao Gu', that will prevent the participants losing money.  If you allocate 70% in total stock market index fund, 20% international stock index fund and 10% short term US bond fund.  Most likely, you can double your money in 15 years, if you are lucky, you can triple your money in 15 years.  My 70/20/10 allocation is for someone in their early 40s since I don't allocate a lot to bonds.  If you are in your 50s, you should increase your bond holding to protect from the equity market downturn.  Good luck.
