Based on your subject line, you want to know how much you need to have for retirement with single income.  I don't quite understand your question.  For retirement, you are turning your income to asset, then use the asset to produce your retirement income.  If you are making 100K annually, you need 100K retirement income annually if you don't want to change your life style.  To produce 100K retirement income, you will need 2.5M asset with 4% withdraw rule, not including your own house.  Hope this helps.  Good luck.
