Has LLC in CA for 3 years.never do anything,Do I need to pay tax

Has LLC in CA for 3 years, never do anything, I need to pay tax ( about $3000) to get it uptodate again.  or People said I can just let it die as time goes by, without paying any taxes,  Is that true?
