some plumbers will do a free camera inspection to get job

if not free it can cost $300. they will tell you exactly where and what happened. you can then decide.

for our class, we first cleaned it out with cutter blade (1.5 inch) and that only lasted a week b/f roots grow back and toilet paper got stuck to it and block the drain for the whole house again.
