Chen isn't that good a painter himself.

His works are very mediocre. Refering to those available on line, his skill is somewhere between that of a professional and of an amateur. His early works are closer to the professional, his reccent works closer to the amateurish.

He has no genuine understandings in either Chinese or western arts. But he has good rhetorics, sometimes some inspirations which can be good, but not unique. He just knows how to market himself well.
