I've worked at several big pharmaceutical companies before, and I had many female colleagues that dressed much better and dressier than me, but none of us ever was confronted for what we dress. I know that for people working in the lab, you should wear lab coat, and no open-toed shoes. But it doesn't mean that you can't have dress and skirt, as long as it not above the knee.
