Win or loss, there is always a reason.

You can't say that when Rockets win is because they played an abnormally good game, when they lost they played a normal game. You said they had no chance with that system to play against Suns and Marv. In regular season last year, they played the same system, and dead even with those 2 teams. Without Amare, Suns still has Nash, they are still good, but not as good. It's obvious, that Nash made the team, but Amare is still better than Diaw.

Amare played one on one against every one. He's gone crazy to challenge Yao or not, that's way he plays. It's always PnR with Nash, attacking the paint with his face-up games. Yao made him his biatch almost every game.

In your logic, you can throw every single system out of the window, when any team win because they shoot better than other teams, it has nothing to do with system. But system is to help to create that opportunity to shoot better than others. It includes defense and offense.

JVG's system, if executed properly, is one of the best ways to defend both priemeter and the paint.

Dampier on the bench is not because he's slow. He's still faster than Yao Ming. No matter Suns or Marvs, if they have Yao Ming, they will play him every game. Dampier on the bench is because he sucks offensively.

To run is easy to say than to do. You need to play defense to be able to run. Fast breaks only come from defensive stops. How many times have you seen JVG waiving hands to SF to ask him pushing the ball?

Everybody in Suns uniform fights for rebounds, that's why they can push the ball quickly and run you out of the gym. It's all about rhythem, they are bunch of catch and shoot type of players, if you slow them down, they will miss. It's not like when they lose, because they have mercy on you, or you have a lucky day.

Still, it's all about defense. If you can't stop your opponent, you have to play inbound, how can you run? Run what?

How to slow Suns down? Slow Nash down. How to slow Nash down? Post him up, and make him play defense.
