If Skip can keep it up with Nash, and somehow bother him, and while not losing his own PG assignment, we have more than a chance to beat the Suns. However, it's easy to say than to do. If DW is in his prime, I can see him doing that, or the hard-nosed dog Sura. Skip's defense is not there yet. That's why it's very important to be in high awareness, in defensive rotations. Rockets did pretty well last year against them, with Amare in the lineup.
Offensive success will bring extra defensive energy. The blowout was lost in defense, but a major contributor was staggering offense. Fast break are created from missed shots or turnovers. If we can do well offensively, I do see them making a statement tonight.
You know why? Because the improvement of Yao's mindset in the past few games. I am not sure whether you noticed, Yao has been money from that right side "moving away from double team, baseline jumper" for the last few games. Last game against Suns, they basically cheated with early double team, but only half-assed, once yao kicked out, they lurked back quickly. Yao realized that as well, and said in postgame comments that he sometimes has to shoot over the double team, and has been doing that selectively, successfully. If he can keep doing that tonight, the Suns will have to commit that double team more, and that also leaves better shooting opportunity for Wesley and Skip.
I think the key is held by Alston.
