I always say what's on my mind. Actually it's one of the advice

at the career board before - pick and choose your fight wisely.

You get your job done, and you own up to your mistakes. However, if you feel you get mistreated, and it's clear to prove. You want to start a fight, loudly, and make sure you win. Never whine and complain about all the small matters, that will only hurt your reputation. When you do complain, make sure it's loud and it works.
