Since you kept pounding on this so-called Western thinking and Eastern thinking or Chinese thinking as you claim, let's be more specific. When was the last time a great Chinese leader or a local official stepped forward to admit that he made a big mistake, screwed up the economy/country/province/city/district/village, uhmmm, in the past 5000 years? When was the last time an Asian leader did so? Western thinking involves more positive thinking, Eastern thinking puts extreme emphasis on face-saving. Tell me, which one is more pragmatic.

It was a technical error, you want to dig on it no end, and use that as example to bash the whole so-called Western thinking. I don't get it.

To answer your question, I was very happy to see Chinese athletes great performance during Beijing Olympics. I was excited about the beautiful gala, although it was way too much money spent to my taste. But the money is spent already, we might just enjoy it. As for mistakes, a few soldiers didn't do everything in sync, I don't even consider those mistakes, but rather human.

If you are talking about the 2 girls lip-sync controversy, well, that wasn't a mistake, was it? It was planned and programmed and deliberate. I don't like that, although I wouldn't label it as cheating. The girl sang, give her full credit and a chance to showcase in front of the world. She deserved that. Funny thing is, lots of Chinese felt that's perfectly normal, probably including you. The only explanation was - nothing was hidden, it was reported by themselves, and the 2 girls were both ok. This is typical your so-called or bragged about Chinese thinking - everything is about face. That beautiful voice has to be matched with a prettier face, although that little girl is by no means ugly.
