than Rafer ever was. But we didn't trade Rafer for AB, we traded him for Lowry, as a rookie, he's already better in defense than Rafer and AB, much better penetrator than Rafer and AB, much better at organizing plays than AB. If he can improve his shooting more, he will be great.
D. West is a joke for his "fame" or allstar status. You can only afford 2 big contracts for each team. Yao will take one, you can't afford to spend the second one on PG or PF, but rather a star wing player.
I prefer Hinrich, not saying he's better than CP3 or Nash. I love Steve Nash, but that's not the best for Yao Ming.
Cost does matter. West is helpful but not money-worth, so are those top PGs, except for Billups, due to his size and defense.
BTW, Yao goes to NO to join CP3 and West, how? He opts out and go there, and accept MLE?
What does Yao need now? PFs are the least to worry about for the Rockets. He needs a backup 5, he needs a star wing player, and some size at the 1. West and CP3 are not top priorities, and not best fit for him. Especially West, a jump shooter can't take defensive load, will expose Yao to more fouls. 0.1 block all star PF in the western conference, is a joke.
I said AB is a bad floor general, but he's a better shooter
