Inexperience costed them the game. But it's not that

they didn't control the tempo, rather they lost because they tried to control the tempo and slow it down. They are not the Suns, yet, they came back from 21 points deficit and led 9 points late in the 4th, because of their passion and their fearless way of playing. They cut to the basket hard, crushed the board, made open 3s, penetrated relentlessly, and everything was done at a high tempo. That's no conventional ball from the small ball genius Nelly, but once they got that big lead, they tried to slow it down to play "conventional" ball. Look how many open shots they passed to eat some clock, look how they became stationary on the end, look how they didn't have anyone to step up when Baron Davis was doubled at mid court. BD didn't penetrate either, on the end.

That was a so winnable game, despite they played out of control in the first quarter, despite they had so many unforced turnovers, despite Mavs played desperately, still, it was their game to take. It's just scary how good they are. I still believe they will take care of business at home, and that is an amazing cooking home crowd. As a young team, you grow after such mistakes. How many people wrote them off after they lost their cool in game 2? But they stepped up big and played as if it was nothing.
