#1 Two southern right whales, with the female weighing 80 tons. There were two more nearby. (#1-8: on the Garden Route along the coast facing the Indian Ocean from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth.) Our tour guide mentioned that whales come to the bay near Knysna in May and leave in Nov., with mid-Aug to mid-Sept being the mating season. (After the whale-watching, our tour guide told us there was a strict rule that one boat needs to stay 50 m away from the whale while two boats need to stay 300 m away from the whale.) Our skipper was smart and stayed 50 m away waiting whales to get up close.
#2 Chasing around our boat. The tail of the female hit our small (~10-seats) boat, leaving a big piece of skin on the rail. In case you can’t open the video, paste the link for the one minute video clip http://youtu.be/TIMG6v2tebw.
#3 After 30 minutes chasing, the female was exhausted and gave in, turning upside down (belly up).
#4 鱼水之乐。
#5 自诩天下第一 bungee jumping (信不?) 全世界“怕不死的”都来跳吧!
#6 Zoom in.
#7 African rock hyrax. Its closest living relatives are the modern day elephants. 信不?
#8 A brave lady riding an ostrich. The trick is to sit leaning far back (contrary to common sense) while holding onto the wings. Of course, it’s very easy to fall down. In case you can’t open the video, paste the link for the one minute video clip http://youtu.be/HmxXrned9wc.
I will continue posting pictures taken at other places in the following episodes.
