important for me, the 7D's auto focus is a big improvement compared with all other Canon XXD, it is a professional level camera for sports and wild life photography.

For landscape, you don't need 7D, 60D or T3i are good enough, you need a 10-22mm lens for wide angle shooting. Or even better, wait for 5DII replacement. However, current APC size sensor camera are more than good enough for landscape, actually, any DSLR camera can do a good job (if you don't do extra large prints like 24x36 or larger). 

For kid sports, 60D or T3i should be OK
