Typically, one plate for one lens, especially the heavy len.  because the scrw bevtween plate and your lens should be very tight.  I don't like to un-screw it often. 

I am using Wimberley plates P-20:  one for 70-200 and one of the 328. 

Th really right stuff sells body braket and their own plates.  I would assume they are different for body or lenses.
