The 3 "cheap" Canon lens you mentioned:
50mm f/1.8, 85mm f/1.8, 135mm f/2

First 50mm/f1.8 is cheap, but not good, both mechanic and optical. Even its lens mount is plastic. Nikon's 50mm/f1.8 is much better built.

Second, 85mm/f1.8, Nikon has the same lens with the same price.

Third, 135mm/f2 is Canon's L lens and costs $900.

IMHO, Most Canon non-L lens is not as good as Nikon non-professional lens.
