目前有12个摄影作品入围，进入决赛。6个类别下已选出12个作品，共有12 finalists.全美网上投票从上周五开始，要从每个类别中选出1件作品，所以最终要选出6个参加角逐 the Grand Prize.

6个类别是 animals/wildlife, nature, people/cultures, travel, weather, inspiration/keep going.

In the Running for National Geographic Trip to the Galápagos; Online Voting Begins Friday



ST. LOUIS (Aug. 13, 2009) – Local photographer Glenn Traver was chosen as one of 12 Category Finalists in the “Energizer Ultimate Photo Contest” and is one step closer to receiving the “ultimate” grand prize: a trip of a lifetime for two to the Galápagos Islands and seeing his photo grace the pages of National Geographic magazine in an ad for Energizer174; Ultimate Lithium batteries.



Selected as a finalist in the Travel category, Traver’s photo stood out because “the subtle colors transmit powerful emotions in a serene setting,” according to Jim Richardson, a National Geographic photographer and the judge for the “Energizer Ultimate Lithium Photo Contest.” “We received thousands of entries, but Traver’s use of subtle colors in the early morning light propelled him to the top of the category.”



Each of the six categories contains two finalists, and now it is up to America to choose the Category Winners. Now through Sept. 15 people can vote for their favorite photo in each category at www.nationalgeographic.com/lithium. If selected, Traver will be among the six Category Winners in the running for Grand Prize Winner, to be determined by Richardson and announced on or about Oct. 15.
