I have been here for a while. I observe two kinds of photographers here in this forum, or probably out there as well.
One is keen to photography as a fine art. The other appreciates the beauty of the camera as a machine. They chase the performance of a machine and enjoy comparing different specifications of lens. They like to label this as "German taste" or that as "Nikon feel".
I consider myself as the former. More specific, I see myself as a digital photographer. I sense that digital camera + photoshop change the horizon of the photography world.

They look equally astonishing to me. But one is produced by Canon G3 and the other Hasselblad 503cw.
I do understand that G3 could not and should not be compared with Hasselbald, as a hardware. But the on-going revolution of digital photography has getting more and more stage, which makes the difference between high end and low end cameras much less significant. Although I still trust the value of those "classy", in more and more cases, digital photography has offered workaround.
I have seen so many good shots out from just "low-end" cameras. On the other hand, those who own a system of "L" lens or some pricy German lens have not presented many impressive images, if not none, so far.
Advanced machines definitely provide you more freedom, but they never give you the soul of art. For me, the second type of photographer does not have much to do with photography. They, at most, could tag themselve as camera guys.
