Dpreview was talking about the following:
A ultra wide angle lens (and with CPL in this case, which caused the vignetting) on 5D will have vignetting:

The same lens with the same CPL on 20D will have less vignetting:

This if obvious and I totally agree, but it is irrelevant in fixing Fruitpassion's photo, because she wants that ultra wide angle photo, not the second photo. So she can get a 20D, now she needs a different lens (and to compare, with a CPL on it). My prediction is: she will get similar vignetting, because it is mainly caused by the extra shade of the CPL (provided the new lens does not cost astronomically more than the one on the 5D);
We are talking about different things.
