I use the SB80DX flash with the Diffuser on,

and I try to bounce off the ceiling, sometimes when it's too high or distracting ceiling, I shoot straight on, but most of the time, I tune down the flash volume by -1 to -2, and use aperture priority of F2.8 +1 or something.
