Milkweed / silkweed 乳草或丝草

中午本来想在上课前去拍一下芦苇，风特别大，手机很不好对焦。失望之余，低头发现芦苇杆上挂着亮晶晶的东西，很有趣。仔细看看，原来是类似蒲公英的种子，阳光下，闪着丝一样柔和的光泽，很漂亮。

回家查查，原来叫milkweed or silkweed。网上介绍如下：

乳草目前被與一種墨西哥的Monarch Butterfly (帝王斑蝶)緊密連在一起。原因是它是這種金黃色花蝴蝶的主要食物來源。每年大批帝王斑蝶由墨西哥飛到北面繁殖，就因為有這植物。帝王碟除了以乳草為食物，並會在這植物上產卵，幼蟲孵出後就以葉子為食物。所以如果沒有Milkweed，帝王蝶的前途就堪虞。

Milkweed的名字來源是因為大片的葉子及莖都有像乳汁一樣的液體。這汁液多數是有毒性，一般動物都不會碰。但那聚集的細小的五瓣花朵就很吸引像蜜蜂這類昆蟲。北美早期原住民還會收集了做甜味料。而莖的濃濃汁液，過去也被德國及美國做橡膠材料。

乳汁草學名Asclepias syriaca，花多數是帶紫的深粉色，大團聚集下垂，有香味。到秋天，結種時種子很大像小黃瓜一樣，然後變棕色及爆開，露出附著在白色絨毛一樣的東西的種子，之後隨風飄到四處。
