Did you mean using M mode instead of Av mode?

At very beginning, I tried to use Tv mode and set speed at 1/640. It didn't work very well. So I changed it to Av mode and chose the largest Aperture. Since I adjusted the focal length in order to catch the good view angel, the largest aperture changed at the same time. My focal length is 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6.
