OK, now I have confirmed that this problem has flaws:
all our solution assumed memoryless, which is contradiction to the probability being constant. the exponential distribution has rate = -log(0.1)/60, 60 being the minute.
check that, \int{0,10}e^[-log(0.1)x/60] = 1-0.1^(1/6) = 0.3187079
probability cannot be constant throughout the whole hour. however the conditional probability is constant. both our solutions used the fact that conditional probability is constant,which is not the same as the unconditional.
bad problem...
