puzzle

In order to survive a terminal illness, a man takes medication. He has two
medications. If he does not take one (and only one) of each pill, he will die.
Unfortunately, the pills look exactly the same and there is no way to distinguish one from the other. One morning, he spills one pill from bottle A and two pills from bottle B and gets them completely mixed up. How can he make sure he gets the right dosage (one of each pill) without throwing the mixed-up pills away and starting all over?
