It is reasonable for airplanes on cariers with a 700 km 作战半径 to solve the problems in South China Sea which is the only place to require the presence of Carrier currently.  If the carrier is parked some 700 km south of Hainan island so that the landbased airforce can provide more than adequate coverage to the carrier, the airplanes on the carrier can then cover the entire south China sea.  It should be pointed out that the range is the longest distance the airplane can go one way and it covers the distances to go and return (作战半径) plus sufficient air time to conduct the operation at the destination. Therefore, a radius of 700 km means a range of more than 1500 km range.
