Just a good start. If it is modified from Su-33, the fuel tank must be at least the same in size unless it is reduced for other reasons. If it is as stated that the Chinese made engines are more efficient than Russian's, the range should not be a worrying factor. At least, it is better than any type of vertical taking off/landing aircrafts. I guess that is the reason the Minsiki and Kivi carriers were not be remodelled even though they are still functional.
The major problem to resolve now for the navy is to get comfortable with taking off and landing on the carriers and then the AWAS (?) so the carriers can help secure south China Sea.
