Jeremy Lin's future with the Los Angeles Lakers is uncertain. ESPN reported that the point guard missed his second straight game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, April 10, 2015 due to a sore left knee. The Lakers won the game with a final score of 106-98.

 

 

Lin skipped the game after the Lakers announced that a recent MRI showed that he had a cartilage abnormality, although not deemed serious. The abnormality was the same as the results shown after he underwent knee surgery in 2012. According to the Lakers, Lin will be re-evaluated. Lin may still be able to play in the team's three remaining games of the season.

Many speculate that Lin's days with the Lakers are numbered. He is the second-highest paid player in the team, having been paid $14.9 million in the current season, but will enter free agency soon. He has been putting up lower figures compared to his last two seasons with the Houston Rockets and his relationship with head coach Byron Scott further puts his future in the team in question.

"Up and down. But I thought after All-Star break, he was getting it together pretty well and playing pretty well on both ends of the floor. Obviously it's another setback. Hopefully it's not something that's going to hold him out longer, " said Scott about Lin's game, based on a report by the LA Times.

Scott did not talk about Lin's future with the team. He said, "We're not going to talk about long-term. We've got [three] games left. We'll finish those games, get ready for May 19... and then start bringing guys in and getting ready for the June draft. I don't think we're going to start talking long-term with anybody right now."

Scott added, based on a report by InsideSoCal, "He's getting better. He went through his treatment. We'll just see how he feels tomorrow in shootaround."

The 26-year-old Lin started in 30 out of 74 games during his time with the Lakers. He averaged 11.2 points a game, which is his lowest since his rookie season. He shot 42 percent from the field, which is also his lowest. He arrived in Los Angeles from Houston offering to help superstar Kobe Bryant but ended up getting criticized for his inconsistent plays. He started in the first 19 games of the season before being transferred to the bench, based on the same report.
