I signed a 1-year apartment lease with a landlord (a real property company) in New Jersey. 6 months later, I need to relocate to California because of a new job. Similar things happened to me before, and I had no problem to stop the lease and move out. But this time, the landlord insists that I pay the rent for the whole year because I signed a 1-year lease. If I stay in the same area, I agree I should pay the rent for the whole year. Since I am moving from coast to coast because of new job, is there any way I can stop the lease? Any legal advices are appreciated.
