your agent is the first one you need to ask for help, you paid them to defend you just for this very reason. 100K is a lot of money they will not let go so easy. so your insurance should take on this for you. the other party must have investigated your financial situation well -- your networth, house value, savings, employment status, ect. I believe at least you own a house and have some home equity they're looking after. do you have a umbrella policy as well? If your insurance is giving up and try to settle $100K, and the other party wants to get more, then you definitely need to hire your own attorney to handle it for you, start from 5K or so...
