Hello,
I sent four chinese passports to canadian consulate for visa by usps express mail and the mail was received and signed by consulate officer.
But after one month, the consulate claimed they can not find my passports and apologized for that and is willing to pay the cost for applying passports.
The consulate only wants to cover the application fee, but not the other cost (e.g. travel to chicago chinese consulte, hotel.) And the consulate claimed that they may not receive anything in the usps mail, even they signed it.
My questions:
1. If the consulate found nothing in the mail (listed 9 oz on the label), does it have the reponsibility to call me (phone # on the mail label) or reported to usps?
2. If it is consulate's fault, what kinds of cost are reasonable to ask for reimburse? The consulate used to say cover all expense for applying passports, but it changed the promise.
3. We have to cancel several air tickets because of this, should we ask for reimburse as well?
Thanks,
Passport lost in Canadian Consulate(Can I sue them)
