desperate help needed, from Laomao

I met this guy online last year and we met and chat and started building serious relationship and talking about future. When he visited me in January this year, he said he lost his wallet, So I spent about $2000 on his trip and everything. Since he said he will give me back. I also added him as the authorized user to my credit card, after he left, he used like $6000 without paying, so I canceled the cards and initialized slow down on our relationship, Although he said he would pay, he always found excuse not able to pay. So we broke up I asked for payment plan but he is just ignoring me. He hurt me emotionally and financially. I lost like $8000 in 2 months. I guess taking legal action against him would not help, right?
