Can I ask back my overpaid tax for 2005 on 2006 form 1040 line 65: "2005 estimated tax payments and amount applied from 2005 return."

I mean in this way, I don't need to fill 1040X anymore. I can ask them back in this 2006 1040. and also I want to apply my corrected tax sheet from our payroll manager with 2006 w-2 tax return directly insead of filling 1040X later after I finished this year's return, what is your suggestion. Can I do this way? I plan to do the correction directly on this 2006 1040. thanks agin.
