求教：home depot铺的地毯下埋了钉子，脚被划伤， 该怎么办？

半年前家里换了地毯， 是在home depot买的，是home depot的contractor铺的。
昨天赤脚走在地毯上， 突然脚下剧痛， 抬起脚才发现脚底板被划了一道一寸长的口子， 很深， 留着血。 仔细在踩过的地方搜索， 发现地毯里埋了半截钉子， 尖朝上。 看形状好像是固定地毯用的staple. 试着拔了两下， 结果钉子和地毯连在一起。 因怕破坏地毯， 作罢。 照了两张照片， 包括地毯上的钉子和脚上的伤。 今天去homedepot, 原本打算让他们找人到我家去起钉子。 先是一个普通的店员接待我。 问清了原委。 说做不了主。留了电话。 晚上一个manager打了电话， 问了更多的information. 告诉我会有什么什么office和我联系。 这两位从始至终没有表示同情或抱歉。 也没有提解决办法。后来想想也许他们担心有法律纠纷而格外谨慎。 这倒让我警觉了。 现在不知道他们会怎样答复我， 更不知道该怎么样应对。 是不是该找律师打官司。 或者该怎样私了。 盼网上高明的朋友有以教我。 谢谢。
