people vs the defendent, the wife won't affect the case much, the prosecutor won't drop the case simply because the wife wants to, this is NOT civil case.

to the defendent, find a lawyer (or use the free lawyer assigned to you if you don't have much money), your wife should resist to testify agaist you, should tell prosecutor she hit herself in the head and in struggle etc. if the prosecutor see not much chance to win the case (because of wife's non-cooperation, not because wife wants him to drop), he might consider dropping it.
