discrimination

My new boss is very rude to me and another asian postdoc in the lab.She is very nice to americans and people from Europe. Only yell at us in the lab meeting.And threaten to fire us. We both have visa and family issues, we cannot leave the lab immediately if she fire us. What should we do? We tried to complain to the university of discrimination, but worried we would be put into trouble.One thing I heard is that it is illegal if she refuse to provide us recomendation letters.But not sure if it is true. Any suggestions to deal with difficult boss? Thanks.
