How to dismiss a misdemeaner c

My hu*****and was arrested and pleaded guilty to a misdemeaner charge several years ago after he hit me and my son called 911. I insisted we just argued but he didn't hit me so the police only filed assaulting peace officer and resist arrest charge because he was mad at the officers. Later he got a public defender since he didn't have much income then. We did ask an American lawyer and he asked for $3000 and there isn't a Chinese lawyer nearby. After I talked with the public defender, he said he could change the charge to a misdemeaner of disturbing peace. So my hu*****and pleaded guilty and we paid a fine and he got one year probation. Now the probation was over one year ago. Is it possible for him to get his charge dismissed or deleted from the court record?

He's been looking for a good job but all of the application forms asking the question of arrest or being convicted. He can't lie or they may think he's dishonest. However, if he tells them he has a misdemeaner charge, even if it's disturbing peace because of language misunderstanding, it still doesn't look good at all. Is there anyway to help him get a good record? If there is a way, how to get it done? Should we talk to the public defendent again? Or should we hire a lawyer?

Thanks a lot for your help. He has learned his lesson and he dare not hit me anymore even though he still yells sometimes but we have two young children so I hope he can find a good job. Thank you very much.
