Paid family leave

In California, we can have paid family leave once a year. So if I used paid family leave from June 1 to June 30 last year 2016, do I have to wait till June 1 2017 to apply for paid family leave again? Can I use paid family leave starting May 1, 2017? I called EDD many times but nobody seems to pick up the phone. Thank you for your help!
