For your question #5, google "counterclaim IL small claim court".  Basically you have to file the counterclaim early enough to be able to serve the paperwork to the other side.  

You are greatly disadvantaged by not using an attorney.  I am afraid your "trust in justice in American system" would be crushed as a result of your amateurism.
