在线求助!!! please -- accidently leaving kid home

Hi everyone:

I am in CT. Last Sunday I accidently left my second one (5year) at home (for about 10 minutes) by herself and was asked to go to court next Monday.

Starting morning on that day, my hu*****and said he would bring my second one to Flushing,NY in the afternoon. As my first one had piano lesson at 5:15pm, I did not say no.

After late lunch, I brought my two kids upstairs for nap.

I woke up at 4:00pm. had shower
4:20pm. gave my first one shower
4:30pm sent my first one downstairs to practice piano. Found out that both my front door and back door were widely open. I thought my hu*****and opened them for fresh air. Went back to upstairs to give my second one shower.

During this time, another neighbor's granddaughter (9 years old) rang door bell and wanted to play with my two kids. I told her that my first one needed to practice piano and the second one needed to go Flushing so she left.

After my second one's shower, it was about 5:00pm. As it needs about 15 minutes to drive to the piano teacher's house, I told my second one to go upstairs to find daddy (My hu*****and and I have own bedrooms because of a lot of reasons) and asked my first one into the car.

After we got into the car, I found out that there was no gas. So I managed to call the teacher that we would be about 3-5 minutes late as I had to get some gas, while I was driving. My cell phone showed that the call was made at 5:03pm.

Somehow it was very smooth, I meant, no traffic, no red lights, we made it on time. That is , we got there at 5:15pm.

A little while after the piano lesson was started, I got a call from police asking me go home immediately. I looked at my cell, it was about 5:30p.m.

I went home immediately and was brought to policy department for about 45 minutes (finger prints and some paper work), even though I explained that that was an accident- I thought my hu*****and was home and I was in a rush so I did not check myself.

I was released after that. But was asked to go to court next Monday.

My hu*****and left home at 3:30pm that day without telling anyone of us, nor did not even knock the doors.

Anyway, I am seeking help for:

1. What kind of charges may I get ?
2. Do I need a lawyer ?
3. What shall I bring to court next Monday ?

No words can express my current feeling. Appreciate for your help.
