In lots of cases, it is really difficult to judge which "culture" is better. The key point is "do you believe your hu*****and is abusing you son?" If yes, dial 911 immediately. Otherwise it is better solve it at home. Have you thought about consequence of calling police? Your family can be completely broken up.

From your post, my feeling is that you do not care about your son. You really care about yourself: if you do not call police, what will happen to you.  I feel very sorry for your hu*****and; he has to be careful about his words/action even at home, as his wife is ready to report any suspecious things to police. She worries that if she did not report, she will be in trouble. I do belive you should not live in the US; you should go to a police country where wife and hu*****and spy each other to ensure everybody is following the law. You either need to grow up or need to see a doctor. Peroid!
