我想投资 mutual fund，请问有什么事需要特别小心的吗？

以前只是 401K 里的钱随便放了几个 mutual fund，现在要投更多的钱，做长期投资，退休用。我不喜欢买房出租，太麻烦了。之所以问这个，是因为看到有人说不要碰 REIT。为什么？还有其他需要注意的地方吗？

美国除了 mutual fund 以外，还有什么比较稳妥的长期投资方式吗？不知道把所有钱都投到 mutual fund 是不是也是一种风险。
