No you do not need to do that way

My case is similar to yours. what you have to do is tell the officer at the Canadian border that you are going to do immigration land, then you are going to the US border office on the other side, there they will give your note indicating that you are not permitted to enter into US. Then you will be back to Canadian border office to show them this note, and fill out some documents. Then everything should be OK
